Using Google Trends data, and our expert beauty intel, we’ve uncovered which provinces are lusting for beauty products during the holiday season and which prefer painting festive nails, pampering their (likely winter-dry) skin with luscious face cream, and more. When it comes to Alberta and Ontario, we just can’t stop picturing the natural landscapes overflowing with breathtaking beauty. Lush forests, lakes, and mountains adorn Alberta’s landscape, while dramatic waterfalls and beautiful lakes grace the province of Ontario.

Those living here must be inspired by the natural beauty, right?

Starting with Alberta in the number one spot, their affinity for beautifying may not be that shocking. Having more sunshine year round than any other Canadian province, Albertans get to show off their beautiful skin and makeup more than anyone. Beautiful scenery and the most sunshine? Come on Alberta, leave some for the rest of Canada!

Alberta is also home to the biggest shopping mall in North America. With over 800 stores and services, it covers a surface area of about 48 city blocks. Can you imagine how huge this mall is? I. Foundation Brushes for a Smooth and Flawless Complexion

1. For your Foundation

When applying a cream or liquid foundation, we need: Either a large flat brush that's round on the end (Foundation brush) and will blend everything together without leaving lines. Its bristles and shape help you easily blend the product onto your skin for an even complexion!

How to use? Place some foundation on your hand, on the brush or directly onto your face. Put some of the product onto the center of the face and blend it outwards in a back-and-forth movement, remembering to spread it to the hairline, the neck and around the nostrils to make sure that there are no lines.

Another option is to use a Foundation Sponge, which is the ideal accessory to apply foundation and liquid or cream concealers. Its pointed tip means you can be precise in your application: dark circles, around the nostrils... The rounded end perfectly evens out your complexion for a natural and adjustable look.

How to use? Lightly wet your Foundation Sponge and dry it with a clean cloth. Place a small amount of product on the sponge or directly onto your face. Apply your foundation or concealer by dabbing with the sponge. The pointed end allows you to apply your concealer with precision while the curved side evens out your foundation.

2. For your anti-dark circle product/concealer

The Concealer brush is your best friend to apply stick or liquid concealer or anti-dark circle products. Its dense and rounded shape is perfect for an even and ultra-price application: dark circles, redness and any other blemishes are covered to give your makeup a flawless finish.

How to use? Place the product on the areas you wish to cover, such as the dark circles under your eyes. Blend from the inner to outer corner of your eye area in a back-and-forth motion. Dab with the tip of the brush to blend everything.

3. For the Loose or Compact Powder

The Powder Brush is perfect for applying both compact and loose powders. Its rounded shape helps to lightly apply your powder and fix your makeup.

The Eyelid Crease Brush has a long and rounded shape that allows you to easily blend your eyeshadows - for an intense and precise result.

How to use? After having taken some of your eyeshadow, apply it using back-and-forth movements along the crease of your eyelid, then blend the eyeshadow up to the eyebrow without adding any more product.

3. For the Eyeliner

The Liner Brush is perfect to easily and precisely apply your liner along your lash line.
Suitable for powder, cream or liquid textures, its very fine tapered tip allows the product to be applied with a high level of precision.

How to use? Apply the product from the inner corner of the eye towards the center of the eyelid. Then go from the outer corner to join up the line at the center of the eyelid. To elongate your eyes, you can also extend the line past the outer corner to create a small flick. If you're feeling creative, let your imagination run wild with graphic eyeliner designs in more vibrant colors.

Gabriella, Yves Rocher Sweden, surpass yourself

To say that 2020 was a year of reconnecting to nature would be an understatement for me here in Sweden. As a true city girl with a constant need to travel the world and a desire for social interaction, the pandemic forced us all to become creative and let go of many things we thought were the norm and replace it with new possibilities. I have never been more grateful for the gorgeous Nordic nature and the proximity to the sea.

Beach vacations abroad turned into daily walks with my dog along the beach in silence, I started training to be able to swim in the cold sea even during winter without a sauna (and I achieved my goal, I now go for a swim three times a week in 4-degree water) and most importantly I realized that by reconnecting to nature, I was reconnecting to myself and what is important in life; health, the present moment and taking time for myself.

Élodie, Yves Rocher Belgium: getting out of your comfort zone

The first lockdown came as a big shock for me, I focused on myself a lot, on what I wanted to do, it gave me the opportunity to take some time to reflect and focus on the essential.

Moreover, at the start of the lockdown I had decided to quit my job after working there for 6 years. I had been very involved with some big changes and I was getting along splendidly with my lovely colleagues, but I wanted a change, I wanted to take new risks and get out of my comfort zone. I took the plunge and I think the lockdown accelerated things.

I had thought about Yves Rocher for a while now, a love brand with strong values. Its visionary, committed and authentic approach caught my attention. I also wanted to stay in Belgium, I’m French but I moved to Belgium during my studies, I did my first internship and started my first full-time job here. I had added value and knowledge of the Belgian and Dutch markets, so I wanted to continue down this path.

Given the situation, it was a decision that really surprised my family and friends. But at the same time, I have a go-getter and passionate side and I did all my interviews during the lockdown (from March to June if I recall correctly) and it was clearly this goal of getting the job and starting at Yves Rocher that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the first lockdown! In the end, I accepted the job without meeting anyone in person, without ever even visiting the offices!

The second lockdown arrived soon after, and I found myself working from home. It forced me to reach out to others and build good relationships with my team, my management and HQ, as well as other managers from different countries. I’m sure that working from home can also bring people together.

Lockdown gave me the opportunity to learn more about myself and to discover new passions. One that I’m very passionate about is watercolor, which I discovered thanks to my best friend. A sudden feeling of calm washes over me when I’m painting, and time flies. It lets me express my creativity and stay in the moment. I love being able to give my paintings to loved ones, it’s a unique gift!

I started painting in June and continue to do it regularly, as soon as I find the time or sometimes for entire days! I started by doing rough drafts: first digitally with Photoshop, then on paper by choosing my color palette. Some of my friends and family have started asking me to do paintings for their homes with a theme, for example animals or nature, I’ve been able to paint several of them as baby shower gifts (there have been a lot around me lately!), which always gives me great joy!

2020, the recycled plastic revolution!

A new initiative in favor of the environment

For the Yves Rocher Brand, beauty has never been frivolous. As it is essential in the lives of women and men, we strive for it to be aware, thoughtful, and committed.

5 years ahead of the European directive.

While a European directive requires, by 2025, the use of 30% recycled plastic in the bottles sold, 5 years ahead of the 2025 deadline, we have been working to ensure that, as of today, all of the bottles leaving our factories are made of 100% recycled and recyclable PET for a cleaner world.

This does not include plastic for service caps, labels and pumps for which we continue to work on integrating recycled plastic. Our nail polish remover bottles which are not currently made of PET for compatibility reasons are still recyclable and we are working on alternatives.

Since the production of our 2020 Christmas line was launched prior to the implementation of this measure, its bottles contain 25% recycled PET.

Eco-design, a necessity for results at the heart of our business.

We produce about 135 million bottles per year. According to our 2020 sales estimates, this means that the brand will avoid, thanks to this innovation, around 2,700 tonnes of virgin plastic!

By 2025, our goal is to reduce our packaging to the bare essentials as much as possible.

With this conviction, we are always evolving in a way that is in line with our values, which are to protect the environment and living things, in order to limit our environmental footprint. “Our goal is not to be the best company in the world, but the best company for the world.” This message hammered home by Bris Rocher, Chairman, and CEO sums up the DNA and commitment of the brand.

Think about it, every time you put plastic bottles in recycling bins you are contributing to giving it a new life, it is material that we use to make our bottles. Choosing 100% recycled and recyclable PET means taking part in a circular, sustainable, and responsible economy.

*Since October 2020, 100% of the bottles that leave our factories are made of 100% recycled and recyclable Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), with the exception of service capsules, labels and pumps.

At the forefront of sustainable development

In the wake of Mr. Yves Rocher, our founder, pioneer, visionary, and avant-garde ecologist, our brand took on environmental issues very early on. In this field, plastic is a major subject for our company, which has paid particular attention to the eco-design of our packaging for many years.

In 2006, ten years before they were banned, the Yves Rocher Brand made the forward-thinking decision to remove plastic bags from its stores.
In 2009, the brand launched its first products using 25% recycled PET.
Since 2010, we have reduced the weight of our plastic packaging by 20% (by gram of plastic per litre of product sold).
In 2017, we developed 2 patented innovations: concentrated products, a line of concentrated shower gels, and a concentrated shampoo, in smaller bottles that consume less petrol and fossil fuels. These innovations alone represent savings of 195 tons of plastic (up to May 2020), since their launch and a reduction of more than 30% in greenhouse gas emissions (compared to the packaging of a 400 ml bath & shower bottle or a 300 ml shampoo bottle).
2019, the Yves Rocher Brand relaunched its hair care line with 100% recycled and recyclable PET bottles.

Step 1: A Radiant Complexion

For this holiday look, focus on highlighting and perfecting your complexion. Apply a small amount of Le Radieux Foundation. In addition to its anti-pollution benefits, it illuminates as it helps to even out your complexion. Choose the foundation shade that best suits your skin tone. To do this, look at the veins on the inside of your wrist. Blue veins mean a beige shade is best; purple veins call for a pinkish shade and, if they appear green, go for a golden shade.

To add definition and reflect light, apply a touch of our Highlighter Stick to raised points on your face: above cheekbones, over the arches of your eyebrows and the cupid's bow or V of your top lip. It’s that simple!

Step 2: A Luminous Look

The coppery look is universally flattering as it suits all skin tones and eye colours. Whether your eyes are brown, blue or green, coppery makeup will open and illuminate those eyes, so go for it!

To start, apply Mahogany Pink Blush as a base over the entire eyelid and move up slightly towards the outer corner. To reflect light and intensify your gaze, apply Waterproof Eye Pencil in Golden to the inner corners of your eyes, as well the inner lash lines. For the finishing touch: add Glow Highlighter under the brow bone and the outer corner of your eyelids to highlight eyes.
