What is Hygge? (Pronounced \"hoo-gah\")\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

So what\u2019s the secret of the Danes, who\u2019ve been\u00a0named the world's happiest people<\/strong>? It's the \"hoo-gah\", a Danish concept and way of living that is all about\u00a0comfort, well-being, warmth and coziness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the holiday season fast approaching, here are some tips to get your Hygge on to make sure you'll enjoy this holiday season peacefully.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Create your own relaxation area at home<\/strong>: make it super comfortable by decorating it with lots of cushions and throws. Don\u2019t forget one or two stacks of your favorite books, a jar filled with yummy cookies and a photo album to flip through...\u00a0<\/p>\n

3\/\u00a0Cut off of any negativity and sources of stress<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Put your\u00a0smartphone on airplane mode\u00a0and\u00a0log out of your mail accounts, for an entire evening, an afternoon or even a weekend...\u00a0 Avoid discussing any sensitive subjects, you can postpone these topics for another time. No food restrictions<\/strong>\u00a0(though beware of indigestion!)... eat what makes you happy: sweets, cheese, cakes, everything is allowed! It's also the perfect time to finish that\u00a0book<\/strong> you've been wanting to read for so long or watch your favorite series<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

5\/ Spend time with friends and family<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hygge is also the perfect opportunity to\u00a0spend time with your loved ones<\/strong>, to invite friends over and be with your family. Why not plan a warm and homey evening, and cook a hearty stew?<\/p>\n

Now you\u2019ve got the basics of Hygge down! All is left for you to do is to get cozy on your couch and watch snow fall outside of your\u00a0window.<\/p>\n
